Bio

My short fiction collection, Dodging the Bull (Wakefield Press) was published in 2007 and was part of the 2008 The Age State Library Summer Read. I have also published three collections of poetry, Minorphysics (IP, 2003),  Awake Despite the Hour (Five Islands Press, 2007) and Standard Variation (Walleah Press, 2014). Minorphysics won IP’s national IP Picks Award for Best Unpublished Australian Poetry Manuscript.

My poems, stories and articles have appeared in Australian and international journals, including The Age, The Sunday Age, Sunday Life, Good Weekend, The Australian, The Canberra Times, Sleepers Almanacs, Wordlines: Contemporary Australian Writing, New Australian Stories, Best Australian Poems and Stories (Black Inc.), Meanjin, The Canary Press, Overland, Quadrant, Antipodes, Southerly, Cordite, Griffith Review, Eureka Street, The Big Issue and crikey.

I have won two national short story contests and have performed my poetry and stories nationally and overseas, including The Bowery Poetry Club (New York), the Newstead Short Story Tattoo, Melbourne International Arts Festival (‘Elemental’ poetry/film/music show at The Melbourne Planetarium), the Melbourne Writers Festival, the Newcastle Young Writers Festival, the Williamstown Literary Festival, La Mama Poetica, the Overload Poetry Festival, and Montsalvat Festival of Poetry and Song. My stories and poems have been broadcast on ABC and Triple R radio, and I have written and performed three dramatic monologues at La Mama, Dancing Dog and Gasworks Theatres, and the Yarraville Festival. In 2013, I was co-judge of the Victorian Premier’s Award for Poetry.
