08 August 2009 Elemental at The Planetarium 2009

Show in Melbourne International Arts Festival

The Melbourne International Arts Festival is coming up and I'm part of a show in it called ‘Elemental'. A fully recorded performance, Elemental has its world premiere at the Melbourne Planetarium, bringing together poets, sound artists, video artists and world renowned science writer, John Gribbin.

Four writers - alicia sometimes, Sean M. Whelan, Emily Zoe Baker and me - have written pieces responding to a theory of the universe. I chose the Theory of Everything and wrote a piece that reflects on it and the life of 14th century English mystic, Julian of Norwich. I performed some of the piece while Alice Garner (Secret Life of Us, SeaChange) performed Julian's parts. Australian experimental musician Lawrence English set the piece to music, while Portugese video artist Ruben Hilario provided the visuals.
